When you’re frustrated, don’t raise your voice — raise your clarity.

D - Describe the behavior

E - Express how it makes you feel

S - Specify what you need

C - Consequence or next step (if needed)

Example:

“When you check your phone during dinner, I feel disconnected.I’d love it if we could make dinner a phone-free time. Can we try that?”

-What was I really feeling underneath my reaction?

-What could I do differently next time?
